01-07-2004 - 01-08-2004 - Openoffice Upgrade 1.1.2 --> 1.1.3 Posted on: 01-08-2005 @ 05:07 am |

Well, I have been recompiling Openoffice on Gentoo....starting at about 11PM and will probably finish about 1 or 2 PM - yea, its about a 12 - 14 hour compile on an AMD Athlon XP +1900 with 512MB memory....best I can remember - If it takes any less time, I likely wont know cause Im finally about to head to bed while it finishes up.....its only 6AM
The reason for the recompile......version 1.1.2 kept crashing everytime I tried to assign a soundfile (.wav) as an object. Getting ready to teach this Linux course (web based) has me using software I dont normally use everyday or using software that I dont normally use in the manner I need for this course, i.e. - I use Openoffice Impress a lot for creating presentation files but I have never needed to narate a presentation file until now. Another example, I had taken single image screen captures of windows and views on a regular basis, but never needed to animate video screen captures using gvidcap / xvidcap until this course. Its crunch time now though with only a few days and the course starts.
I will also be teaching a Microsoft Access 2003 classroom course. I am pretty excited about this too. In the same day, my web based linux course starts and I have to face my first classroom of students. |

Comment By: ewiget (Posted on 01-16-2005 @ 08:59 pm) Comment: OpenOffice will not work, in its current state of development, to narrate a powerpoint presentation. Still looking for a resolution as of 01-16-2004 |
