i just wanted to add another linux compatable all-in-one scanner/printer/copier to the list.so far the scanner and prtinter works out of the box.xsane detected the scanner with no problem.i was'nt able to get the printer using the kde print manager(kdeprint),might have been something i was doing wrong.to get the printer up and running i just fired up konqueror and went to http://localhost:631/ this is your own computer,clicked on manage server entered root and then my root password and i set up the printer.it also lets you specify users allowed to print so you don't always have to use root.it has pretty good setup options,i'll let you all explore them on your own.i was able to get the printer running first try.i have'nt had a chance to test the built in media card readers yet.i'll update this as soon as i have time to tinker with them. _________________ Brian Edmisten

thanks for the info brian. Cups is generally the preferred way for setting up printers in Linux.
Here is a tip for finding the card reader (should be able to run this as a normal user):
$ dmesg | grep sda*
The above may be sdb, sdc, etc. Anyways, if you find one of those and that is the only card reader currently on your system, that is the device. So, with a card inserted, you mount it as root like this:
# mkdir /mnt/card
# mount /dev/sd? /mnt/card
Replace the ? above with whatever the device is.
You can then treat it like a normal hard drive. If you add the entries to /etc/fstab and set the correct permissions, normal users will be able to read and write to the device. By the way, if you are using Sabayon / Gentoo and the printer is on the laptop, it should automatically detect when something is installed into the card reader slot and mount it automatically using hald
