I found this link by accident when I was looking for some information on optimizing linux kernel parameters for dual / quad core processors for recent kernels. Some of the information here is pretty well known and documented, but there was a lot of things I found there I didn't know....and I work with mysql databases on linux practically daily.

Here is the link:

http://www.mysqlperformanceblog.com

And since I mentioned it in this same post, here are the AMD and Intel Dual Core optimization pdfs:

amd - http://www.novell.com/collateral/4622016/4622016.pdf

intel - http://www.intel.com/cd/channel/reseller/emea/eng/products/server/processors/q5300/feature/327835.htm
amd turion - http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html

and one more (just to make these easier for me to find in the future)

postgresql - http://developer.postgresql.org/pgdocs/postgres/kernel-resources.html
