I read the nice paper "Using Your Mobile Phone in Linux" and followed the recommendations. Unfortunately the situation worsened. Before changing anything I could download files to the hard disk with moto4lin (after running p2ktest) as root!. The phone was linked with a usb cable as: /dev/usb/acm/0.Now I have /dev/phone, but the phone insists on AT, switching to p2k results in the message: unpluged (who's english is this?) and moto4lin can't connect anymore. kmobiletools never was able to connect and still can't.. Removing 60-ttyACM.rules did not restore the old situation. Did I mangle the phone?

I don't think you have damaged the phone.  I assume it is still working when disconnected from the computer to make and receive phone calls?  If it still works there, then I would guess the module was still loaded and using the old udev rules.

If you remove the phone and the udev rules, you will also need to rmmod the module and modprobe it again for the new udev rules to take effect.  It might also help to restart hotplug.

I would offer more assistance, but I am not familiar with suse's rc scripts or what they are called.  However, if you have trouble, we can probably communicate here and I can walk you through it.  Might be something just as simple as rebooting and everything will reset (not the way you would normally fix a linux problem, but would work in this case since it is a module and udev issue).  Rebooting should reset both of them.
