I purchased one of these printers today from Walmart and just wanted to let everyone know that this was one of the easiest printers I have ever set up in Linux.  The total cost was $130 with tax, and the printer, fax, and scanning/copier all work in Linux.  See the article here:

http://www.edwiget.name/content/view/134/26/

The printer works using the HPLIP Module/driver

The fax works through the printer - you basically set up the printer twice in cups - once as a normal printer using the auto-detected HPLIP printer module, the other using the auto-detected HPLIP FAX module.  Then sending a fax is as simple as printing the the FAX printer.

For scanning, it works great with both XSANE and kooka - the only ones I have tried.

In the printer, scanning, and fax, there was not even a single configuration file that needed edited.  Total time to unpack and set up and test was less than 15 minutes....well, maybe 20 minutes by the time I took several scans.

Happy as can be....this makes 3 items I bought recently not knowing if it worked with Linux or not and all three items have worked without a hitch.  This just goes to show the long ways Linux has come with hardware support the last 2 years.
