Linux is running in everything these days, from computers to embedded devices to cell phones, watches, dvd players, tv and media recorders, and even appliances.
Well, Microsoft has decided to get into the appliance market too (I would assume since they see the death of their operating system sales after the "year after vista" release -- maybe they are looking for a new market but most importantly they are trying to recover lost sales revenue).

On a side note, KDE is being developed as an alternative to the windows desktop (this is not a joke--ed). Personally, I think it is a waste of the kde developers time.....just convert the remaining 50 or so worldwide windows users over to linux....much easier!!!
