Click below to read about other distributions released today.

KANOTIX 2005-04-RC19
KANOTIX is a Linux live CD based on Knoppix technology using Debian/sid. The included XFree86 is from Debian/experimental. The main specs are: GRUB based startup from CD, ACPI support, DMA default on, additional support for DSL modems (Fritz!Card DSL and Eagle USB), optimal for HD install (you get a working Debian/sid install in about 10 minutes!), kernel forcedeth (for nForce NIC), device mapper and some other patches. Kanotix will run as a LIVE-CD on practically any computer -- automatically detecting and configuring virtually any piece of hardware. It is ideal for analysis, data rescue, forensic work, removal of viruses on Win-PCs - or simply for safe surfing and mailing in an internet cafe. It installs to your hard drive in just a few minutes and is ideal for use on your desktop workstation or notebook, or as a server. Download the latest 32/64 Bit stable releases here or the beta release here.

Pardus 1.0-rc1
Pardus Live CD, a bootable CD edition of the Pardus National Operating System, has been announced and distributed to the participants of Akademik Bilisim in Gaziantep University. The live CD includes Linux kernel, office tools (word processor, spreadsheet editor, presentation tool, etc.), Internet tools (browser, e-mail, instant messaging, relay chat etc. clients), multimedia and graphics tools (video player, music player, etc.), games and lots of other applications. Pardus is open source and freely distributed as a GPL (General Public License) product. Download the beta release (700 MB, MD5)

Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 Updated (r1)
The first security and critical bug-fix update to Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 "sarge" has been released: "This is the first update of Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 (codename 'sarge') which mainly adds security updates to the stable release, along with some corrections to serious problems. Those who frequently update from security.debian.org won't have to update many packages and most updates from security.debian.org are included in this update. Upgrading to this revision online is usually done by pointing the 'apt' package tool (see the sources.list(5) manual page) to one of Debian's many FTP or HTTP mirrors." As usual, this Debian update brings no major package upgrades, but it does incorporate security fixes into existing packages. See the release announcement for a detailed list of changes. The updated release is available from the project's main server and many mirrors.
